Located on the northwestern shore of Lake Toho, this award-winning 30-acre park is known for its gorgeous sunrises, fishing piers, playgrounds, and lovely walking trails. The park also plays host to the city’s annual outdoor events. Boardwalks lined by native plants and trees meander throughout this recently renovated space and there are plenty of amenities to keep families entertained.

Spanning 1,000 acres over multiple locations, Shingle Creek Regional Park was designated as one of “America’s Great Outdoors.” Steffee Landing, one of the park’s most popular access points, offers a variety of recreational opportunities, including paddling, hiking, biking, and wildlife watching.

Fifty acres of meandering trails, lakes, and landscaped grounds are divided into 15 themed gardens. Two-hundred-year-old oaks and forests of camelias provide ample shade along the paths. The gardens also feature a variety of outdoor sculptures and rotating art exhibits.
2700 Scrub Jay Trail | Poinciana
Managed by The Nature Conservancy, the 11,500-acre Disney Wilderness Preserve is home to more than 1,000 species of bird and plant life. Enjoy a hike along the 3-mile trail loop or take an off-road buggy tour to learn more about the wildlife within this protected natural habitat.
BOGGY CREEK AIRBOAT ADVENTURES

Glide over the swamps aboard a passenger airboat to observe birds, turtles, and alligators in their natural habitat. After your tour, go digging for hidden treasures at the park’s Fossil & Gem Mine. Discover fascinating arrowheads, alligator teeth, precious gems, and rare fossils.
The attraction also showcases an authentic re-creation of a traditional native American village.
1151 Tower Boulevard | Lake Wales
Created by famed landscape architect Frederick Law Olmstead, Jr., this historic garden in nearby Lake Wales is part of the Great Florida Birding Trail. The gardens consist of landscaped woodlands, scenic vistas, flowering foliage, numerous walking trails, a boardwalk, children’s garden, and a beautiful Mediterranean-style mansion. At the center stands a 205-foot art deco and neo-Gothic Singing Tower, the crown jewel of Bok Tower. Inside, the structure houses a 60-bell carillon.
