With plenty of seasonal events as well as excellent attractions year-round, Epcot™ is known among Disney fans as “the park of food and festivals.” And while some consider it the most grown-up part of Walt Disney World® Resort, it actually offers plenty for the entire family! Here are some of the best things to do and our favorite tips:
1) Start your day by getting a FastPass+ for Test Track or Soarin’
As two of the most popular rides in the park, both of these must-do attractions tend to gather large lines quickly. The waits later in the day can be an hour or more! Check them off your list in half the time by doing them first.
Pro Tip: Frozen Ever After is the other ride we always FastPass+!
2) Be prepared to eat… and eat… and eat!
The Epcot™ World Showcase brings together a wide variety of flavors from across the globe. Our favorites include the romantic-yet-family-friendly Mexican pavilion and the beautiful Italian restaurant. For high-end dining, go all out at the Canadian Le Cellier steakhouse or the French Monsieur Paul’s. The British restaurant is also popular.
Pro Tip: Save room for dessert. We recommend the Canadian “cronut”, German caramels or French ice cream.
3) Take the Living with the Land “Behind the Seeds” tour.
As far as Disney tours go, this one offers excellent value for your money! After glimpsing the Epcot™ greenhouse during the Living with the Land attraction, “Behind the Seeds” takes you inside for a close look at the food grown on property.
4) Stop by the SeaBase at The Seas with Nemo & Friends Pavilion.
Your kids are sure to “ooh” and “ahh” over the 4,000 creatures who call this man-made ocean environment home. More than just another aquarium, it features a window-lined underwater observation deck and rescued manatee feedings throughout the day!
Pro Tip: Many kids also enjoy the interactive Agent P’s World Showcase Adventure scavenger hunt.
5) Get your gourmet popcorn fix outside Journey into Imagination With Figment.
Although it looks like an ordinary Disney snack stand, only this particular cart serves Cheddar Cheese, Buffalo Bleu Cheese, and Sour Cream and Chive popcorn. Nowhere else will you find these delicious gourmet flavors!
6) Sample free Coke-a-Cola© products from around the world.
Both kids and adults can taste small cups of complimentary international sodas at the Cool Club in Future World. A welcome break from the Florida sun, it’s one of our favorite perks of the park.
Pro Tip: Sip with care — many Americans say the Italian “Beverly” soda is their least favorite.
7) Attend the Food and Wine Festival.
Located in the World Show Case, Epcot’s (most) highly-anticipated annual festival typically takes place between September and November, featuring different types of food from all over the globe! At night, catch live entertainment during the Eat to the Beat concert series.
Pro Tip: Purchase a “food passport” as a great souvenir and an easy way to keep track of your favorite dishes for return visits.
8) Check out the other amazing festivals throughout the year!
International Festival of the Arts (January & February)
The newest addition to the Epcot™ lineup features amazing local and global artwork spanning the performance, culinary and visual areas. From complimentary workshops to curated exhibits to stand-in photo opportunities, there’s something to interest any creative soul!
International Flower and Garden Festival (March — May)
Character-shaped topiary displays, butterfly gardens, kids’ walk-through areas, and unique vendors selling household novelties like wind chimes, make this event a favorite of even the not-so-green-thumbed.
International Festival of the Holidays (November & December)
With highlights including the classic Christmas story narrated by celebrities; a 50-piece orchestra; seasonal dishes from over 35 Holiday Kitchens; and special photo opportunities with your favorite characters, this celebration is the perfect way to get into the holiday spirit.
