As a premiere vacation home rental community in one of the world’s top tourist destinations (check out our vacation rentals), we often receive questions from future guests about traveling to and from Orlando. Here are some of the most common answers and tips we share:
When is the best time to visit Orlando?
When timing your trip, consider both the weather and the crowds. Temperatures are generally most pleasant from October to April. While Orlando’s world-famous attractions don’t really have a “slow season”, there are fewer visitors when American children return to school in August. The first few weeks of November and December as well as the end of January also see fewer crowds.
Which airport should I fly into?
Orlando International Airport is the main airport in Orlando and the closest to the theme parks. Its three-letter airport code is “MCO”. Fortunately, we are located just 28 minutes from this airport in the same direction as the parks!
What should I know about the Orlando International Airport?
MCO features Terminal A and Terminal B. Like most airports, you’ll want to follow the signs for your airline and be mindful that traveling between the main terminal and the gates may require a quick ride on the monorail. You should easily be able to follow the signs (and fellow passengers) to the correct area to claim your luggage. On your return trip, give yourself two to three hours once you arrive at the airport to get through the long lines at security.
How do I get from the airport (MCO) to Encore Resort at Reunion?
Although you can call a taxi service or rent a car from one of the counters near the baggage claim — or use a ride share app like Lyft or Uber — we recommend using the Encore shuttle bus. Be sure to allow time to claim your checked luggage and pass through U.S. customs. Our address is: Encore Resort at Reunion, 7635 Fairfax Drive, Kissimmee, FL 34747.
Should I purchase theme park tickets before I leave my home or when I arrive in Orlando?
When you stay with us, you can buy discounted park tickets! Our experienced team can help make sure you end up with the right kind of tickets (single park, multiple-day, park hopper, etc.) for your group and offer a few other great tips, too.
What should I know about dining on my trip?
If American portions are larger than you’re used to, consider sharing an entree as a way to save money and avoid wasting food. If you plan to dine inside the parks for multiple meals, both Walt Disney World® Resort and Universal Orlando Resort™ offer meal plans for the best value. Beyond the parks, TripAdvisor.com is a very popular resource for finding highly-rated restaurants in the area. Encore Resort at Reunion also features several excellent restaurants and a bar on-site.
What’s the difference between a vacation home (Like Encore’s) and a hotel room?
Potential renters always ask us what the difference is between a hotel room and a vacation home. There are many benefits to renting a vacation home for your Orlando vacation. Gated communities, like Encore’s, make it easy to keep an eye on young children and grandparents, and allows non-native English speakers to converse in complete comfort. Other luxury amenities that Hotels don’t typically offer include:
• Spacious accommodations with separate living areas
• Private backyard pools
• Fully equipped kitchen and in-unit washer/dryer set (save time and money!)
