Your wedding day should be all about you two — your love, your commitment and your dreams for the future. So it’s no wonder that every ceremony and reception held at Walt Disney World® Resort is as unique as the couple saying their vows. Consider these tips as you begin planning your Disney wedding:
How many guests do you plan to invite to your Disney Wedding?
Do you have a number in mind? How flexible can you be? There are three wedding packages available for your Walt Disney World® Resort wedding, and the biggest difference between them is the number of guests allowed. The Memories Collection (up to 18 guests) and Escape Collection (up to 4 guests) are smaller packages, designed as intimate experiences with a few close friends and family. The Wishes Collection (up to 150+) offers the most flexibility and allows you to have input into the look, feel and experience.
Opt for the royal treatment — or not!
Not a huge fan of having Cinderella or Mickey Mouse as your wedding theme? That’s OK. Not everyone goes into princess mode. There are other options! Epcot® venues can transport you to Italy, Morocco, England, Japan, a tropical beach and more for the day. No matter your preference, there’s a Wishes Collection venue you’re sure to love, characters optional.
Ask your Wedding Consultant about preferred vendors.
Part of the magic of hosting a Walt Disney World® Resort wedding is that they do a great deal of the work for you — which means less stress! If you’re not living in Central Florida, it can be difficult to find and hire local vendors. Fortunately, your planner will have a preliminary list of approved vendors with experience performing, shooting or styling Disney venues.
If you prefer your own vendors for some parts of the Wishes Collection, be prepared to have them see the site, sign a contract and discuss any restrictions in advance.
Expect to meet minimum requirements for Disney-provided services.
This applies to both food and beverage costs as well as what the folks at Disney call “enhancements.” Anything guests consume, including meals, drinks and even the cake, must be purchased through Walt Disney World® Resort and count toward this cost. “Enhancements” are the non-edible elements of the event, like décor, flowers, entertainment and photography, along with a few others. You will be required to spend a minimum on-site in both areas.
Have your relatives stay together in one location.
Skip the hassle of having family members scattered around, all trying to find the best prices for hotel rooms. Reserve a vacation home in Orlando for your group. Not only will you sleep better in the preceding weeks knowing everyone will be in one place, your guests will thank you for simplifying their travel plans. It’s just better when everyone makes it to the ceremony on time together — especially since your event is sure to be run like clockwork.
Make sure the destination wedding matches your budget.
You probably already knew that — it’s Walt Disney World® Resort, after all. Just hosting your ceremony in the Magic Kingdom® Park carries a hefty price tag, while the other 40+ sites start at about half that amount. You’ll need to work with your Wedding Coordinator to make everything work within your budget, but if you’re prepared in advance, you and your prince charming can make it work!
